Baesweiler
At the school „Friedensschule“ there was busy collecting and protection:
The children of “Känguruklasse 1a“ and the „ Elefanten” from class 1b have met every morning by sitting in a circle and telling in German and English how many children came to school by foot.
All classes from the 2nd grade wrote a way to school diary in which each child wrote down what he or she experienced on that date, how and with what he or she got the green footprints.
The class 3a wrote down the collected feet daily on the class poster. Additional footprints were collected by class walks. The children of class “Rabenklasse 3b” went doing the groceries by foot with their parents.
In teamwork, the children of class 4a made climate-posters about topics like “What is climate change? What can we do to prevent it?”
The class “Koalaklasse 4b“ the children walked on the paper with green painted feet and by doing that represented their way to school and drew what they caught their eyes there.
Every day, the class “Hundeklasse 4c“ collected and took pictures of finds on their way to school: rims, batteries, perfume samples, handles, arrows, erasers, latches, flatted hedgehogs – no, that was a brush!
The complete report with all the cool activities can be viewed here in pdf (140 kb).

From kindergarten „Brakel-Böckendorf“ we have received the following report: “For the completion of our climate week all children bake cookies in the form of a foot. for children and siblings, who have also supported them to master many ways environmentally friendly.” |
At kindergarten „Brakel-Riesel“ the children collected their footprints on a day’s plan.
From that you can see when they did an excursion together or when it rained at pick up time.
District of Gütersloh
15 institutions from the district of Gütersloh are participating this year.
They can promote the action week with a banner at their institution.
Lohmar
At the school „Waldschule Lohmar“ September 2014 was themed “Kids On The Move”. All children were on the move environmentally friendly, did something for their fitness and the climate.
That resulted in 5,560 green footprints. Even Mayor Horst Krybus visited one of the classes and the children informed him about the things learned. Here you can see a short report at Rhein Sieg TV
Besides the collecting of the footprints, they designed and phrased “wish feets”. The children wished for:
- “fewer car traffic”
- “better cars, which do not produce much CO2”
- “not clear the forests but to protect plants, planting more”
- “to invent new techniques for clean energy”
- “to promote local products and to avoid long transportation ways”
- “deposit on bottles also in other countries to avoid garbage”
- “more recycling”
- “less aircraft noise and environmental burden also by ships”
- “to protect animals and their living environment”
During a council meeting at the end of October, two children of “Waldschule”, as representatives of the 320 busy collectors of 12 classes, handed over their results and their “wish feets” to the Mayor and the city council (Photos Frank Kremer).
The reports and posters of the realized projects are presented in the foyer of the school as well as in the town hall of the city of Lohmar and are also published at the school’s homepage.
Here you can find another newspaper article (jpg, 990 kb)and the detailed report (pdf, 200 kb) of all activities of “Waldschule” during their climate protection weeks.
Nettersheim
We have received the following letter from Nettersheim: |
But also the kindergarten Nettersheim participated with 55 children (and families).
They team wrote:
“ This year, in April, we started with collecting green footprints. The whole kindergarten, that is 55 children, moved to the forest for one week. There we learned how important it is to help our nature/environment/climate, because who knows for how long our forest kindergarten would exist.
We, together with our parents, also participated in the action clean countryside where we collected the garbage which other people had just dropped around our kindergarten and a bit further.
We gathered many bags and we were proud that with our help everything was clean again.
From May to October we always had fixed forest days on which we met in the forest instead of kindergarten.
For the completion we walked in our forest part together with our parents where we had picknick together, sang and played.
It was a very successful afternoon and we were able to collect with our families 1,220 miles for Climate Alliance 2014 and are happy that you are taking them to Lima!”
Oelde
This year, the school „Albert-Schweitzer-Schule Oelde“ participated for the first time.
took some seconds. Unfortunately, not every car driver let us pass the crosswalk – so attention if you want to cross the street there!”
