Handover of Green Footprints at UN Climate Conference in Doha, 2012

On Saturday, 1 December, Thomas Brose, Executive Director of Climate Alliance, handed over the Green Footprints collected in 2012 to the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, Christiana Figueres, at the Doha Climate Change Conference in Qatar.

Ms Figueres was very impressed by the children’s many wishes and demands and once again thanked them for their efforts. She had a close look at the children’s messages on the footprints sticking around the poster as well as at the ZOOM Report 2012.

In the end Thomas Brose handed her over little boots (covered with tiny footprints all over) as a symbol for the way that needs to be gone NOW and asked her to forward the children’s message to the participants of the UN Climate Conference.

He emphasized that it would be embarrassing if, after the conference, we once again have to tell the children of Europe, that the World’s politicians didn’t follow the kids’ model and joined forces for to save the One World’s climate.

This year Climate Alliance was accompanied by representatives of ZOOMers in Austria, Germany and from the UN Youth delegates from the Netherlands, who already had a video conference with the participants of the Dutch "Kinderklimmaattop" in The Hage on 26.11.

Results of the last ten years

ZOOM-Kids are Moving for Climate since 2002 - you can imagine that they collected quite some Green Footprints up to now.
