ALLENSBACH

This year, six institutions with 384 children took part in Allensbach on Lake Constance and ran a total of 6,735 miles. Both elementary schools and four daycare centers took part, once again creating fantastic mileage posters on which they documented the miles they had collected with stickers. Look out for the poster with the big apple and marvel at the beautiful flower meadow that the children have stuck on!Incidentally, the walking bus children, who walked to school all year round, also took part again. The results and the posters with the children's footprints, which they made themselves, were presented to Mayor Stefan Friedrich and the local council before the summer break and are well documented in the municipality's official gazette (see https://www.gemeinde-allensbach.de/fileadmin/Dateien/Website/Dateien/Mitteilungsblatt/2025/Nr._31_vom_01.08.2025.pdf )  The newsletter also points out that the children are hindered on their way to school and kindergarten by trash cans standing on the sidewalk and sometimes even have to step into the street. The municipality is therefore asking everyone to quickly remove trash cans from the sidewalk after emptying them. Many thanks to Allensbach for taking the concerns of the “little climate protectors on the go” so seriously and supporting them in such a practical way!

BACKNANG - MAUBACH
This year, 31 children at the Imster Straße daycare center in Maubach got involved and collected a total of 234 Green Miles.

During their campaign week in May, the children explored topics such as waste separation and upcycling – and the exciting musical instruments they created can be seen in one of the photos.

They also worked together on a poster to explain how the greenhouse effect actually works and why emissions from cars and airplanes contribute to global warming. They also illustrated what happens when more people walk or cycle—thank you for this great poster idea!

FELLBACH
This year, four institutions participated, contributing a total of 4,750 miles.
Of these, 350 were contributed by the 25 hard-working children at the Neue Straße kindergarten, as can be easily seen on their fantastic collection poster – thank you very much for this wonderful idea for documenting the miles, which allowed each child to contribute to the overall result in their own individual way.

Other participants included:

    element-i Kinderhaus Kappelbande
    Fellbacher Löwenkinder
    Schillerschule Oeffingen

LEUTENBACH

This year, 12 institutions worked hard to collect miles in May. On July 14, 2025, the Rems-Murr-Halle in Leutenbach also hosted the ceremonial presentation of certificates for this year's Children's Miles campaign in the Rems-Murr district.A nice photo of the event and the overall results for the district can be found here. This year, 84 children in four groups took part at the Schwalbenweg kindergarten. During their two climate action weeks in May, they collected a fantastic 1,125 miles – 528 green, 338 red, and 259 blue miles.  In the first week, the focus was on saving resources—the children practiced using paper, water, and electricity consciously. There was also a short film on the topic of “paper production.”In the second week, the focus was on the topic of “protecting habitats and animals,” which included nature observations, discussions, and a film about honey. Finally, the children worked together to fill out the worksheet “Climate kids think differently” from the campaign booklet and wrote down what they want to do differently in the future and what they want to pay particular attention to.

TÜBINGEN

This year was the first time that the daycare center in Tübingen-Pfrondorf took part in the campaign.
They sent us some photos and a short report (pdf) about their campaign week, which we are happy to share here.

In their first year of participating in Kindermeilen, they focused on the green miles the children walked to get to daycare. This resulted in a total of 316 miles.

The facility wrote to us:

“The children were enthusiastic about the project and came every morning to report how they had gotten to kindergarten.  Many of them also walked or cycled in their free time.” -  This is exactly how we imagine it, many thanks to the hard-working little climate protectors on the go!
